If you don't know who David Goggins is, you've had your head in the sand. While we aren't sure David is the best role model for everyone, his self-discipline and ability to forge through physical pain is definitely admirable. We like David as motivation to put down the beer, get off the couch, get outside, and exercise.

Follow along as retired British Paratrooper, Levinson Wood, embarks on one great adventure after another. He has walked the length of the Nile River, The Himalayas, and several other great adventures, each catalogued in detail in one of his fascinating books. His remarkable patience and determination teach a lesson we can all learn from.
Steven Callahan was sailing solo from Europe to America when he was forced to abandon ship into a life raft. The harrowing experience over the next 76 days forced him to adapt, endure suffering, and survive. This remarkable experience is related in "Adrift, 76 Days Lost at Sea". Steven is another example of the extreme mental and physical anguish that men can endure.

David McCullough has been described as America's Historian. However, his biographical works are where he really shines. There is much to be gained from his biographies of Teddy Roosevelt and John Adams, but read, "The Wright Brother's", and find out how these very ordinary men became so extraordinary! The Wright Brothers are one of the best examples of team work, belief in one's self, and relentless determination that we have come across. Perhaps the greatest lesson to be learned from this book is that goals take years, even decades to accomplish. Success does not come overnight, but with dogged determination over the long haul, success can be achieved.

Solzhenitsyn was a decorated officer in the Russian Army during World War II before being rounded up and sent to the Gulag as a political prisoner. Learn about the evils of socialism and communism from one of its most vocal victims. Solzhenitsyn's transition from a victimized, why me, mental state into an introspective man that bears extreme ownership for his present state is fascinating.
We don't know anyone that can read these thousands of pages straight through, but we recommend picking it up and knocking out a chapter here and there. If you ever start to feel sorry for yourself, this book will make you grateful for what you do have.

Robin Olds shot down 13 German fighters while flying P51 mustangs over Europe in World War II. In 1966 he took command of a fighter wing of F4 Phantoms in Vietnam, replacing a commander that only flew 12 combat missions during his tour. The 44 year old Colonel Olds went on to shoot down 3 migs in 152 combat missions, most of which went un-reported so that he would not be rotated out of country. Routinely giving up opportunities to become an ace by letting his younger pilots take flight lead and shooting down migs, he gained their turst and respect. Olds was constantly in trouble for bending or outright breaking regulations, he was rowdy, a heavy drinker, and flaunted his trademark mustache which was against regulation. He was married to movie star Ella Raines, and later in life at the age of 79 was arrested for DUI after a brief high speed chase in his corvette. Ladies man, rogue, leader of men, dashing warrior. Robin Olds OG.

If you work hard enough, luck, often enough, will get you the rest of the way...........29 Year old Meriweather Lewis set out from St. Louis Missouri on May 14, 1804. Over the next two years he and William Clark led the Corps of Discovery across the continent and back. Captain Lewis dead reckoned they travelled 4020 miles via canoe, on foot, and horseback, using modern satellite technology it has been confirmed he was off by less than 40 miles. How was this young, uneducated mountain man able to maintain discipline and lead men tougher than the country they traversed for over 2 years without mutiny or much discord at all? One of the most remarkable feats of leadership known to history. You will not regret reading this book.
